Powell Lakes Canoe Route
The Powell Lakes Canoe Route has been on my hit list for a while now! My boyfriend Isaac and I have slowly been ticking off some classic BC canoe routes in the past few summers. Powell Lakes is pretty obscure and also pretty far from Revelstoke, so I didn't expect to be paddling it anytime soon. But, like all the best adventures, we decided on a total whim to head for the coast and check it out! Within 24 hours we were on 9pm ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. The next morning we grabbed a bunch of (way too heavy!) groceries and got on the 12pm Ferry to Powell River.
Our route began at the tip of Lois Lake, we then weaved our way across 6 portages and 7 lakes, eventually finishing at the Powell Lake Marina. The route took 5 days, although I would recommend 6-7 days and packing dried food! The portages were way harder than I expected, but definitely provided for some good exercise during our cruisey vacation! Thanks to Isaac for hauling the canoe on your back. And thanks to our friend Jay for shuttling our truck!
